Opening Checklist

WATCH ISLAND OPENING

Project:

Materials must be fetched as soon as possible due to short work period

Annual tasks to open

Commons:

  • Electric power to island ON, switchbox behind kitchen door of LH

  • Water pump at skiffhouse ON, check faucets at UH/LH for running water, are all turned off.

  • Mow grass after removing tree debris

  • Skiff slide install

  • Launchhouse open doors

  • Floating dock install

  • Sweep launchhouse, clean windows

  • Sweep steps and walks

  • Clear little beach of leaves

  • Tennis court tarps remove (Lindley Bay task)

Lower House

  • Install fan and sump pump for composter

  • Turn on hot water at electric panel in kitchen

  • Remove mouse poison from all rooms

  • Refrigerators clean and plug in

  • Linen closet screen panel remove (4 screws): store behind bunk bed in that bedroom

  • Set up the beds as needed

  • Clean kitchen, counters, sinks, flip top plates, etc

  • Clean bathrooms

  • Check washing machine for position, level balance with shims as needed

  • Sweep deck

  • Tables and chairs to deck

  • Deck floor walkway install to bedroom door

  • Vacuum downstairs, upstairs: suck spider webs around windows and edge of ceilings

  • Rugs put out, with rug pads

  • Curtains up

  • Chairs and hammock out for fire pit area

  • Wash windows downstairs, upstairs

  • Sweep roof over living room extension

  • Clean skylight

  • Spider webs off exterior

  • Wash winter covers from beds and sofa area
